  3. ezRTi is a software program to document the PCS intervention process, in a similar manner to how the software program CECAS documents the EC process used in our schools.

  4. PCS TAT/PSM Process is aligned with the NC Problem-Solving Model: Tier IV Consideration for EC referral The NC Problem-Solving Model Tier III Consultation with the Problem Solving Team Tier II Consultation With Other Resources PEP/Tier I Consultation Between Teachers-Parents Amount of Resources Required to Address Need(s) Significance of Need(s)

  5. TAT/PSM Model Encourages the Development of a School Wide System of Academic and Behavior Supports for All Students: Tier III : TAT/PSM Team Frequent/longer intervention sessions; Research based interventions; Progress monitoring required; Inclusion/co-teaching programs; Direct instruction Intensive Intervention 5% Tier II Small group instruction, Reading Recovery Tutors, remediation, computer based intervention programs. Strategic Interventions 15% Tier I Core Curriculum Effective instruction Positive behavioral supports, Effective classroom management (Universal Screening / Benchmark Assessments) Core Curriculum 80% OUR GOAL: TO PREVENT THE NEED FOR INTENSIVE INTERVENTION OR EC SERVICES

  6. Starting the year… • All teachers and administrators using the ezrti program should attempt to log in during the first workdays using their Username and Password. • If a teacher cannot log in, a school “admin” for the program should troubleshoot to try to assist (see Handout re: Troubleshooting Problems in ezrti under District Documents). • Names of teachers who have successfully logged in, their Username, Password, and email address, should be kept by the TAT Chair and an administrator.

  7. Indicators for When to Use Tier 1/PEP • A student requiring significantly more instructional or behavioral supports than are typically provided as part of “good teaching” • Student is already in a remediation program- Tier 1 to document what the teacher is doing in the classroom • Other indicators as requested by your Principal

  8. For students who may need extra support through EC services- Review these plans in 4-6 weeks • Review PEP/Tier I plan after at least 4-6 weeks of implementation (K-8), or 2-3 weeks of implementation (9-12).

  9. Tier 1 • Review with ezrti form 1b after 3-4 weeks of intervention. • Plans that appear to be effective may continue as long as needed or interventions used may be added and the student continued at Tier I as needed. • Plans that are not effective may be considered for additional intervention or moving to Tier II.

  10. Tier II- Recommendations to Improve Process At Tier II for 2011-12 School Year: • Grade Level /Departmental Teams or a designee from that team are recommended to review students referred for Tier II. • Teachers must know who their grade level contact to assist with Tier II will be. The grade level contact can meet with the teacher, parent to review the Tier I plan and make further recommendations as needed. Other school resource professionals, including school psychologists, school social workers, counselors, reading /math specialists may be invited to participate on a case by case basis according to need. • Tier II is reviewed with Tier IIb form- Parent is invited, and Grade Level contact/designee . • If decision to move from Tier II to Tier III is recommended, the TAT Chair must be notified and be given all information from Tiers I and II to place in a blue TAT folder.

  11. Tiers I and II: Invitation Forms Teacher Sends to Parents • The parent invitation forms are located under District Documents in ezrti. They can be printed and sent from the program. • Parents can be contacted by letter, email, face to face contact, or phone contact. Document date contact was made and type of contact on the ezrti form.

  12. Tier I and II Students from Last Year • Students in the process during the 2011-12 school year will have the tier in which they finished the school year listed by their name on the teacher’s ezrti class roster. • Review the students information using a review form listed under the previously completed form from the 11-12 school year. Example: Review a PEP/Tier I plan with Tier 1/PEP Review (Ib) Review a Tier II plan with the Tier II Review (IIb) Review a Tier III plan with the next form presented that has not been completed. • Determine if another intervention is needed, or continue intervention from last year for 3-4 weeks. • Students in Tier I or II from last year should also have a red PEP folder at the school. Locate this folder and continue the process as described above. Hard copies of forms at Tiers I, II and any documentation should be kept in the red PEP folder.

  13. Tier III Students from 2011-12 School Year • Tier III students must be reviewed by the TAT /PSM Team as soon as possible in the school year. The team determines appropriate next steps according to information provided from the previous school year, and current performance. • The TAT Chair will send invitations, parent screening notices, and all forms for Tier III. • Students in Tier III from last school year should have a blue TAT folder in their cumulative record. This folder should be located and given to the TAT Chair.
