Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills (TEKS) PERCEPTION: In art, students rely on their perceptions of the environment, developed through increased visual awareness and sensitivity to surroundings, memory, imagination, and life experiences, as a source for creating artworks. EXPRESSION: Art students express their thoughts and ideas creatively, while challenging their imaginations, fostering reflective thinking, and developing disciplined effort and problem-solving skills. HISTORICAL: By analyzing artistic styles and historical periods, students develop respect for the traditions and contributions of diverse cultures. EVALUATION: Students respond to and analyze artworks, thus contributing to the development of lifelong skills of making informed judgments and evaluations.
Evaluation & Assessment for Projects • Daily- 20% Quiz- 20% Major/Project- 60% • Work Ethic/Stewardship: meeting deadlines, managing class time, working diligently, staying on task, focusing on work, listening & following directions, respecting everyone and everything (including clean-up) • Process: going past first “right answer”,planning, researching, sketching, working & reworking problem until quality work is produced, seeking input from others, experimenting, risking success, judging self-improvement in concept & media development • Product: insuring quality craftsmanship, expressing moving ideas, utilizing the elements & principles of design, completing high quality work
Art Club & NAHS • Art Club meets 2nd & 4th Tuesday 2:45-4:00 • Anyone welcome! • $10/semester dues to cover supplies • NAHS: student is nominated by the art teacher, one semester must be completed with a B average, 10 volunteer hours with AMHAA and event participation required
