Dialogic marking • A technique that: • Ensures that comments are acted upon by students • Makes students accountable to each other for making improvements to their work • Allows students to engage in a dialogue with each other about their work and progress. • DIRT (Deep Independent Reflective Time) – 15 minutes of silent work improving your work and meeting targets.
Peer Checking • Student A: “Mr. Goodrich told me to improve....... This is what I did..........” • Comment: Student Amet all his target because he improved his zooming-out, and wrote better extra information sentences. • Student B: “Let me show you what Mr. Goodrich told me to do................ This is what I improved .............” • Comment: Student B met all his target because he used word level analysis and wrote proper umbrella points. • Peer checking – • Show your partner what you were told to improve. • Explain to them how you improved it. • Ask them to write a comment proving that you met your targets • Swap and repeat.
