VALE Digital Media Committee Charge: To provide a vehicle for VALE member institutions to obtain streaming rights for digital media by: • Brokering with media distributors for the VALE member institutions for digital rights to stream media • Developing a licensing model that can be used for negotiations with distributors • Implementing a calendar for reviewing new contracts and committing to the established price • Collaborating with NJVID and NJEDge.Net to deliver content for VALE member institutions • Reviewing and revising proposed calendar for the 2009-10 year

  7. VALE Digital Media Workflow Cycle VALE Digital Video Licensing Committee meets 3 times a year. 1. Fall meeting: a. Develop model licensing agreement to present to distributors. b. Review new proposal from media distributors. Survey members to determine interest. c. Assess current contracts/licenses and pricing and determine whether they should continue or change. d. Review governing agreement with consortium 2. Winter meeting: a. Determine distributors based on member survey. Establish pricing and send out a preliminary interest form to VALE members 3. Spring meeting: a. Determine final pricing with distributor from preliminary feedback from member institutions. b. Obtain commitment/sign-off from VALE members by July 1st for the coming fiscal year. c. Any VALE member who commits by July 1st would receive the established pricing.
