Introduction Technology is the development of an idea evolving into a physical creation developed by mankind. To help, destroy, or change the world = future of technology.
Eyeglasses 1280 The eyeglasses main function is to help people with the disability of seeing things that are far away or that are very close to them, but these are not the only vision problems that eyeglasses correct. This piece of technology is still used today, and it very commonly used for the same reason it was used for back then, except it is modernized, also there are many styles. Some of the styles such as sunglasses are used to help keep the sun out of our eyes. Or the bifocals which are used for correcting nearsighted and farsighted people all in one pair of eyeglasses.
Franklin Stove 1742 The Franklin Stove was invented to make indoor heating easier and more efficient. They are still used today by many people for heating but originally the Franklin Stove was used for heating, and cooking.
Vaccination 1798 The vaccination was created to prevent illnesses and contagious diseases that happened to mankind and to prevent societies from getting these diseases. The vaccination evolved into something that prevented almost all diseases such as the flu, chicken pox, and measles, to name a few.
Locomotive 1804 The locomotive was a major breakthrough for mankind because of its ability to transport many people and cargo to places of a great or short distance. In modern society the locomotive evolved to a to a better, faster, and more streamlined version of its self , for example the Bullet and Amtrak.
Braille 1834 Braille was created to help blind people read. This is still used today because it is the only way blind people can read. This is a series of raised dots that are an alphabet meant to be felt instead of seen. Blind people feel the raised surfaces and know what letters they stand for. Blind people can be taught Braille at a early age when they are found to be blind or when they become blind later in life. The big picture is that without this amazing piece of technology, blind people would not be able too read.
Helicopter 1907 The helicopter was based on the maple seed which we call the helicopter that flutters down off the tree. In modern society the helicopter evolved to the big helicopters for the military Chinook. The helicopter is very important and different from a plane because it can hover up, down or in place. This gives it the ability to pick up things and does not need a runway to take off or land . But a disability is if it is hovering in a war zone it becomes an easy target for the enemy.
Antibiotic 1928 Antibiotics were created to prevent infections from spreading. Antibiotics were prescribed when you had an infection because other medications will not work on infections. Antibiotics have evolved into stronger more powerful antibiotics with the ability to target certain infections.
Jet Engine 1937 The jet engine was made in 1937 to be put in planes. The jet engine replaced the propeller. It inspired the “Blackbird” a military plane that goes 6,000 mph. The jet engine is used today along with the old fashion propeller .
World Wide Web The world wide web was created in the 1990’s by Tim Berners-Lee. It was made to make researching easy and fun. It made communication easier and opened a whole new world of media. The web also added color, graphics, animation, and music. This revolutionized us because we can now talk and be entertained over the web.
Google 1998 Google was invented to make the world wide web of searching easier and simple. Google is a famous search engine which finds your results in a fraction of a second. Google also will find things related to subject you searched. This is commonly used today to find information on multiple kinds of content and does all the dirty work for you.
The Future By Gregory In 50 years I think technology will be peoples’ main value. It will make people fatter and people will have machines that bring food right to their home. There is already Peapod which brings food to your house. But what I am proposing is to the extreme. A machine will unpack the food and store it for the lazy person and if necessary cook it. In the future people will have solar powered chairs that cater to their every whim. Because of the all the technology that needs fuel there will be even more of an energy crisis. Also fast food restaurants sales will rapidly increase more than they recently have, because they will have a supply of fat people who love fast food, all because of technology, which made the people fat in the first place, by doing what they want so they don’t have to lift a finger.
The Future By Brendan I think that in 50 years the number obese adults will grow from 66% to 85% because technology can easily turn a life around no matter who you are. Now people are eating fast food and playing video games when you could make a cheaper healthier meal without the 5000 calories and if you like playing soccer on a video game try the real game. I really don’t think this life style will change unless it’s for the worse. In the future technology will only get more advanced. In the future if our countries health continues in this direction it will be very scary and somewhat dangerous. I would rather have a fit healthy body over a over weight unhealthy body. We are the ones creating this technology and unless this is how you want our world to end up, then stop and think about your true values. Think about what matters to you, your family, and your true friends not what you want but what you truly believe in. Maybe you don’t care about your health but other people do and they want you to live a full life and you can’t do that without exercise and fitness.
The End Technology has changed our society for ever and will most likely keep doing just that for better and for worse. Now with all this technology we start to value all this more than our friendships and family. Which is more valuable?
