  5. Ports • Training has been carried out for 10 newer Docks Inspectors in the South East • Priorities for any work will include workplace transport, work near water, LOLER, wind speeds (monitoring and managing), mooring bollards

  7. Workplace Transport Incidents • I am aware of a number of ongoing investigations • I point all inspectors to: SIP 001- Guidance on Port and Terminal Planning (Workplace Transport) • Risk assessment • Safe system of work • Communication/ training

  9. Communication and Co-Operation In every SiP Cooperation and coordination between shipside and landside employers is required. Employers must therefore carry out risk assessments and develop safe systems of work (in consultation with the workers involved) that all parties agree to. So that the respective employers can co-operate effectively with each other

  10. Consultation Worker engagement goes beyond consultation and refers to the extent to which workers contribute to decisions that affect their health and safety. Leaders play an important role by engaging the workforce to achieve safe and healthy conditions.
