Ecaterina Cojoca, Romania, Summer School Participant 2012 GUSS was not only an intellectually rewarding experience, but a fun one, as well, because it was a perfect combination of intensive academic studies and stimulating conversations. The literature seminar expanded my knowledge on South American writers, making me explore further the influence of the 19th century American writers in South America, and giving me potential research ideas for my own thesis. The morning lectures, definitely a challenge, helped me to better understand key contemporary political and social issues and to develop an interest in subjects outside my primary area of study. The possibility to share this experience with students and professors from various academic backgrounds make GUSS a melting pot of ideas. Attending the summer school is a challenge worth taking.
