James is sad, he is wandering in the streets of London. He is a policeman. He sees a dark shadow at the top of Big-Ben. A man: he will surely fall... One week later James is missing.
During a dark night of November, a Big Ben mechanic wants to know why the bell has stopped ringing. He discovers a body tied to the bell: James! Max Royne, a detective, is in charge of the inquest.
Firstly, they inspect everything but without moving anything. Max Royne checks the identity of the dead. The poor man had just lost his wife thus he could be depressed but James was hanged two metres above the floor. So the question is: if it isn't a murder how did James kill himself?
Secondly they realize that James has marks of constriction and the results of his blood swabs show traces of sleeping pills. So it is not a suicide but a murder: the murderer has hung the body onto the bell.
Thanks to all these elements it is then easy to find the two suspects. Both suspects were present at Big Ben at the time of the crime, and one of them has drugs on him. Moreover, the police has found his fingerprints on James’s neck. So they are both arrested.
Finally James’s brother, Jack, is sentenced to 25 years’imprisonment. James was killed by his brother because Jack spent two years in jail for drug trafficking because of James betrayal. James was more honest than his brother and Jack was so dishonest that he could not stand his brother.
