  1. Wer war Heron ? Heron von Alexandria war ein griechischer Mathematiker und Mechaniker. Sein genaues Geburtsjahr steht nicht fest. Lediglich die Tatsache, dass er eine Methode zur Bestimmung des Zeitunterschiedes zwischen Rom und Alexandria durch Beobachtung einer Sonnenfinsternis – die im Jahre 62 n. Chr. stattfand – entwickelt hat, läßt darauf schließen, dass er im 1. Jahrhundert n.Chr. gelebt haben muss.

  2. Heron von Alexandria war ein griechischer Mathematiker und Mechaniker des 1. Jahrhunderts n. Chr. und wurde wahrscheinlich in Ägypten geboren. Heron wurde im Altertum in erster Linie als Mechaniker berühmt, so z.B. mit seinem mechanischen Theater mit sich automatisch öffnenden Tempeltüren. Besonders bekannt ist der Heronsball. Heron verfasste Schriften über Mechanik, Technik, Pneumatik, Vermessungskunde und Mathematik.
