Focus of Stage 3 • Teacher instructional strategies (What the teacher is doing to teach) Direct instruction, teacher modeling, skill demonstration, guided practice, questioning • Students learning experiences (What the student is doing to learn) Independent practice, investigate, discuss, create

What Stage 3 is • Everything in Stage 1 that will be assessed in Stage 2, needs to be taught in Stage 3 • Facilitates student understandings • Develop knowledge and the skills from Stage 1 • Equip students for the assessments in Stage 2 • Includes your pre-assessment and progress monitoring tools.

  4. Group Activity With your table: • Arrange your Stage 1 pink cardsinto four groups. • Match the Stage 2 green cards to the appropriate pink ones. • Match the Stage 3 yellow cards to the Stage 1 and Stage 2 cards. • Are there any holes?

Coding Quick Coverage Were there any key concepts (pink cards) that were not covered by the learning events (yellow cards)? • While you write your stage 3 or after you finish it, you will code it like we did for stage 2. • Coding will help ensure that all the lessons and activities you have planned will help students gain the knowledge, skills, and understandings that you set forth in stage 1. • Coding will also ensure that you are not assessing material that you have not taught nor teaching material that you are not assessing.
