Steps in cloud formation: • Sun heats water (liquid) and causes it to evaporate into water vapor (gas) • Warm moist air rises (gas), expands, and cools as it goes higher in altitude. • Water vapor (gas) in the air condenses into tiny droplets (liquid) or ice crystals (solid). • These droplets or ice crystals condense around tiny solid particles such as dust, smoke, and salt.
