  1. PP - 2013-04 Resource Certification for non-RIPE NCC Members • Presenter : • Erik Bais – ebais @a2b-internet.com

  2. Policy proposal info • Author – Erik Bais • Current status : Open for Discussion • Phase end : 05 Jun 2013

  3. 2013 – 04 Policy proposal • In short : Through the PDP process ask the NCC to open the current RPKI system to allow Resource Certification for non-RIPE NCC members. • The current implementation doesn’t allow PI space or legacy space holders to certify their resources.

  4. Why this proposal ? • Politics: • Because the Board decided a broader community input was desired and invited someone to put this through the PDP process. • http://www.ripe.net/ripe/mail/archives/ncc-services-wg/2013-April/002305.html

  5. Why this proposal ? • Technically: • The current implementation only covers the RIPE NCC members their PA space. • There are 9000+ RIPE NCC members and more than 18.000 PI / Legacy holders... • We are missing most of the entities / resources !!

  6. Proposed policy text • The RIPE community requests that the RIPE NCC implement functionality that allows non-members to request a resource certificate for the address space they hold. In order for the RIPE NCC to issue a certificate, the address space holder must first prove that they are the legitimate holder of the address space, within the RIPE region. • A sponsoring LIR can act as an intermediary in this process. Provider Independent End Users must have submitted a 2007-01 End User Assignment Agreement that was verified and approved by the RIPE NCC to be eligible.

  7. What do you think ? • In order to get your feedback on the topic : • Send your comments to<ncc-services-wg@ripe.net WG> before 5 June 2013. • This could be as simple as : • I support the policy.
