  2. Who is Saladin? • Muslim sultan of Egypt, Syria, Yemen, and Palestine, founder of the Ayyubid dynasty, and the most famous of Muslim heroes. • He was born in Takrit, Iraq, in 1136 to a Kurdish family.

  3. What and where were his great accomplishments? • Saladin used his considerable talents to bring the Muslim territories of Syria, Egypt, northern Mesopotamia, and Palestine under his control. • Overcome the Christian armies of the early crusades through smart strategies in battles and discussions.

  4. In 1169 at the age of 31, was appointed both commander of the Syrian troops in Egypt and vizier of the Fatimid caliphate there. • In 1187, he declared a holy war against the armies of the European crusaders, who had conquered Jerusalem 88 years. In the war Saladin's capture of the city was peaceful, trying to avoid a lot of death.

  5. When and why did Saladin do all these accomplishments • All his accomplishments were in the late 12th century, he did most of his accomplishments to unite the middle east, or free a certain country, he never wanted to just have wars and kill that’s why the war in Palestine was were death was what he he was avoiding.
