  2. Treatment Approaches Helicobacter Pylori Treatment 1. Antibiotic Therapy: Antibiotics remain the cornerstone of H. pylori treatment. Standard regimens often combine two or more antibiotics, such as amoxicillin, clarithromycin, and metronidazole, along with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) to reduce stomach acid production. These regimens aim to eradicate the bacterium and promote healing of the gastric mucosa. 2. Triple Therapy: Triple therapy, consisting of a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), clarithromycin, and amoxicillin or metronidazole, is a common first-line treatment for H. pylori infection. It typically lasts for 10 to 14 days and boasts eradication rates exceeding 80%. 3. Quadruple Therapy: In cases of antibiotic resistance or treatment failure, quadruple therapy may be prescribed. This regimen includes a PPI, bismuth subsalicylate, tetracycline, and metronidazole, administered for 10 to 14 days. Quadruple therapy demonstrates efficacy against H. pylori strains resistant to standard antibiotics. 4. Sequential Therapy: Sequential therapy involves administering a PPI and amoxicillin for the initial five days, followed by a PPI, clarithromycin, and metronidazole for the remaining five days. This sequential approach enhances treatment efficacy and reduces the risk of resistance. 5. Salvage Therapy: Salvage therapy is reserved for cases of persistent H. pylori infection despite previous treatment attempts. It often involves a combination of alternative antibiotics, such as levofloxacin or rifabutin, along with adjunctive therapies like bismuth and probiotics.
