  3. Harmony • The relationship between two or more simultaneous pitches • Creates a chord progression • Melody is horizontal while harmony is vertical

  4. Harmony • Cello line is the melody • Harmony is created by multiple notes at once

  5. Harmony • Generally created by more than one instrument • Some exceptions: • Piano, guitar, violin, cello, viola, bass, xylophone… • Anything with KEYS or STRINGS can create melody on their own (you can play two keys/strings at one time)

  16. Timbre • Each instrument has its own timbre – a flute sounds different than a trumpet • We’ll review the sounds of the more popular instruments and then play a game related to them
