Information A business plan is a document that: • summarizes the operational and financial objectives of a business • contains the detailed plans and budgets showing how the objectives are to be realized.
Purposes The purposes of a business plan are to: • force you to take a significant, composed look at your business in its entirety • help you to manage your business work effectively toward its success. • create interest in potential investors to make them want to meet with you
Importance of a Business Plan • It is the guide for a business • It explains how the business will operate and the goals of the business. • It is what investors look at to determine if they want to work with you.
Audience of the Business Plan • The audience of a business plan is the investors and lenders. • They look at the plan and decide whether or not to invest money in the business.

Our Business Our group is planning to start a business where people could sell/buy used electronics. Our service would pay in cash for used electronics, or selling used electronics and their parts. People would use us because we will stress customer service, pay in cash for goods and have an easy online interface where we could sell our products.
Our Business In order to make a profit doing this kind of business we’d bump up the price of the product online and have it for cheaper in the store to encourage people to come in (hopefully to buy more than what they came for) to buy our products. We would also buy goods for less than we’d sell them for.
Franchise Information • Franchising is the practice of using another firm’s successful business model. • For the franchisor, the franchise is an alternative to building 'chain stores' to distribute goods and avoid investment and liability over a chain. • The franchisor's success is the success of the franchisees.
Franchise Information • The franchisee is said to have a greater incentive than a direct employee because he or she has a direct stake in the business. • The Franchise Disclosure Document was drafted so that the laws behind opening a franchise are clear.
Buying into a Franchise • To join a franchise, a contract with the company needs to be formed. • This contract is the same for anyone opening a store within that franchise.
Examples of Franchises Some examples of common franchises include: • McDonald’s • Burger King • Pizza Hut
