From Wikipedia, • They say “The camera obscura is an optical device that projects an image of its surroundings on a screen. It is used in drawing and for entertainment, and was one of the inventions that led to photography and the camera.”
Proper Exposure • What is the exposure in photography? • What is the proper exposure in photography?
ISO-The level of sensitivity of your film to available light. • “Lighting gathering” ability
Require more light to get a good exposure Lower ISO Higher ISO Less light to get the right exposure BUT, You will get noise
Shutter speed- The length of time a camera’s shutter is open when taking a photograph
1/1000 1/250 1/4
If shutter speed is fast Freeze action completely If shutter speed is slow ‘motion blur’
Aperture The lens diagram inside the photographic lens. The size of opening.
Roles of Aperture • Larger opening lets more light through per second than a smaller one. • The size of opening also affects the depth of field in the photograph. • Large opening shallow depth of field • Small opening Deep depth of field
Shutter Mode P Program Mode Tv Time value Mode Av Aperture Value M Manual Mode Dep Depth of field Mode
For next class, • Have two rolls of 35mm black and white film exposed with 18 cuts with Av mode, 18 cuts with Tv mode, 18 cuts with Manual mode, and 18 cuts with Dep mode. Choose Kodak tri-x or Ilford HP5plus. • Also, bring Negative sleeves and photographic paper- 5 across seven down they come in packs of 25 or 100 photographic paper
