Who do you think is right? I have been driving for ten years now. I don’t find it necessary to check my mirrors or use my indicator at times . Well, I have several years of driving experience but I still find it important to be careful while driving. The number of years you been driving do not matter. Drivers should always be alert while driving!!
Here are some common driving errors: • Excessive speed. • Changing lanes without indicating and checking mirrors. • Inattentiveness. • Failure to avoid accidents. • Distraction inside the vehicle.
Common driving errors, continued… • Tailgating. • Inadequate defence driving skills. • Incorrect assumptions about other drivers. • Improper manoeuvring. • Maintaining tunnel vision. • Not using seat belts.
Now let us consider what good and experienced drivers do. • Follows the rules of the road. • Checks rear and side mirrors to observe other drivers around the car. • Looks ahead to see what is happening on the roads. • Always indicates when changing lanes.
Again, let us consider what good and experienced drivers do. • Leaves an escape route between cars. • Makes allowances for the lack of skill and improper attitude of other drivers. • Drives at speed limit. • Is constantly alert for accident producing situations to take defensive action in advance.
