  1. AT&T versus BrightHouse Comparison guide for CCVII

  2. Introduction Cypress Creek Village 2 is considering switching the provider of TV service included in your monthly condo fees. This was initially a simple research project but has turned into a viable option with no cost increase and a considerable improvement in services offered. We’re interested in your questions and feedback. Please email us with your thoughts at CypressCreek2@gmail.com

  3. Glossary of Terms DVR: Digital Video Recorder. This box records TV and allows you to play it back. A DVR requires a HD signal. HD: High Definition. You really want this if you have a flat screen TV, otherwise the picture looks poor. Without it you have SD (Standard Definition) which works fine on older TVs. If using an older TV, you do not require HD.

  4. AT&T Uverse This new product is Television and a great deal more, delivered by Internet Protocol. This makes it possible to deliver stock, weather, sports and traffic information on-screen in addition to games like Sudoku, Solitaire, JT’s Blocks, Mah-Jongg Tiles, Chess and fantasy football. Unique DVR features : (with paid DVR service) • 4 channel DVR recording capable • Remote web based programming for DVR and parental controls from internet connected computer or mobile device • Watch or play recordings from up to 4 recorded shows on other TVs at once • Pause a recorded show and pick it up where it paused in another room For more info: Click here

  5. COMPARISON OF BASIC SERVICES AT&T BrightHouse • 120 channels • Web-based content • Games & Music • Download shows to iPhone • Picture in picture • 14 Day channel guide • Up to 3 jacks will be installed free to homeowner • 70 channels • No limit on the number of tv jacks • All units would be rewired

  6. INTERNET COMPARISON*AT&T BRIGHTHOUSE • Basic internet is $38 and 3Mbs (4 times faster) • Free AT&T wireless hotspots across the country • Dedicated connection: speed is consistent regardless of neighbor’s activity • Roadrunner basic is $20 and less than 1mbs • Roadrunner Standard is $47.95 and 10 mbps • No hotspots • Speed depends on neighbor’s usage *These products are available at the homeowner’s cost. However, it is certainly possible to share high-speed wireless internet with neighbors and save significantly.

  7. The total is for your out of pocket cost; the association already provides the basic cable COST COMPARISON When adding a DVR, you also get 200 channels (U200) Summary: Only in scenario #1 does Brighthouse save you $10/mo. However, if you share internet, AT&T costs less.

  8. AT&T Upgrade packages (at your cost) AT&T phone packages (at your cost)

  9. Reasons to switch • AT&T requests a much shorter contract with our association and much lower potential annual increases • Our cost doesn’t increase but we receive a great deal more entertainment • Games, music, stocks, sports, etc • 200 channels and DVR for $13 extra • An account manager will be assigned to us as a single point of contact for all issues • AT&T will pay the association a marketing fee of $2500 which would help our current cash position

  10. Reasons NOT to switch • It is a bit of a hassle to change your service, though you certainly can opt to keep BrightHouse at your residence and pay out of pocket • In bringing the Uverse network cable into your home some wiring work could be required • If you have more than 2 TVs, then you may have to pay for additional set top boxes ($7.00 /mo) • In the course of wiring your condo, some wire will run along baseboards and/or under carpet along walls (likely to happen if we use BrightHouse also)

  11. Where necessary, wiring on outside of building is run inside painted conduit
