Background • Northumberland LINk started in 2008 an involvement network working across Northumberland to provide a voice for the public in health and social care. • Elected a Chair in 2009 – Cynthia Atkin • Proactive approach to involving seldom heard voices and commissioned specific involvement work with groups covered by Single Equality Legislation. • Strategies for collecting people views included open meetings, marketing in local press, postcard campaign, access through the website and telephone • Number of views submitted for 2011 / 2012 - 57 ranging from hospital parking to concerns for independent advocacy for people in distress.

  3. Engagement • Open meeting held across Northumberland 2011 /2012 – Ashington, Belliingham, Berwick, Blyth,Hexham, Morpeth, Pegswood, Ponteland, Rothbury and Wooler • Range of issues and concerns some consistent hospital parking, signage to Wansbeck

  4. Recent Work • Enter and View – • Continuing Healthcare and Direct Payments – Extensive work undertaken to date – initial report with North of Tyne and Adult Services awaiting responses before final • Dentistry – Report compiled covered access and use of hygienist

  5. Local Healthwatch • Established on 1st April 2013 • Will be a social enterprise ‘body corporate’ contracted by the local authority • Raise significant concerns to Healthwatch England • Either provide or signpost the public to NHS complaints advocacy • Provide advice, information and support patients to choose services • Full voting member on Health & Wellbeing Board

  6. Working Collaboratively • N. LINk already have a seat on the shadow Health & Wellbeing Board and leads on the Communication subgroup • Working with the Clinical Commissioning Group – recruited locality reps • Works closely with NHCT – NCC officers and lead member

Roadshows PROGRAMME From 3pm to 6.30pm Refreshments will be available throughout the Roadshow 3pm Opening 3.30 – 3.50 Welcome and Presentation (Guest Speaker) To present on LINk/Healthwatchchanges Local Authority update on duties and responsibilities 4.00 – 5.15 Open for public to drop in, receive information, browse, chat, share comments, and complete the questionnaire ( 5.30 – 6.00 Presentation (Guest Speaker) 6.30 Close
