  1. Omoplata Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an unusual and uncommon style that many would not expect to see in an omoplata. However, this technique is actually rather common. For those of you who are not familiar with the term, here's a primer. While it may look like a triangle from the side, there are actually four points of contact on each side, and they are referred to as a "vajir". In the omoplata Brazilian guard, the omoplata practitioner keeps his arm straight, using the triangle to create leverage to control his opponent. Because he cannot cross his arms, the omoplata Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) technique is considered to be an all-around guard for beginners. It can be used for full guard, where his opponents cannot pull him down, but they can still attack him from different angles. He can also use the omoplata to transition to other positions. An omoplata BJJ technique is used when a person wants to transition to a different top position from his bottom mount. One example of this is when a person has taken his or her opponent to mount but wishes to have some top positions on the ground. To do this, the omoplata will be used. There are two different variations of the omoplata, one where the person holds his or her arm omoplata straight out in front of them, and another where the person grips his or her opponent around the waist with both hands. Because of its unusual and unique holding techniques, the omoplata BJJ combo is difficult to execute in a traditional big match. In order to try and pull this off successfully, the referee will often ask both fighters to stand up and lock hands. If neither fighter can hold each other in standing position, then the omoplata is not possible. This requires both competitors to use their dominant hand to hold onto each other's waist, while their weaker arm is still in a position to strike. The omoplata as a technique is often used in omoplata big fights. One example of this is when a BJJ practitioner who is a taller opponent tries to take down shorter opponents. Since the taller opponent cannot reach the shorter opponent's waist, or vice versa, the omoplata is used as a finishing move. The omoplata BJJ technique is also used when the opponent is being choked. If the omoplata is done properly and securely, then the choke is released, and the shorter opponent is free to run away. A good example of the use of the omoplata in omoplata BJJ fights can be seen at tournaments such as the ADCC and the UFC tournaments. In most cases, the omoplata is held on the arm, but it can also be used as a triangle from which a person can break away. Another variation of the omoplata is where the opponent is wrist locked in the omoplata, causing the referee to call the match.
