Research Misconduct • What is Research Misconduct? • Try to resolve informally • If not go into formal confidential process • Formal process has three stages: - Preliminary Investigation - Initial Enquiry Panel - Formal Investigation • Outcome may be no finding of RM, training required or disciplinary procedures including for malicious or vexatious claims

Research Integrity Concordat • University responded to Consultation • Sets out 5 commitments for assuring high standards and integrity in research • Researchers, Employers of Researchers, Funders of Research • Signatories include: DfEL, HEFCE, NIHR, RCUK, UUK, Wellcome Trust • Compliance, or working towards compliance, a condition of HEFCE Grant 2013-14 • Confirm in annual assurance statement • Russell Group working together
