  1. e-Stewards Marketing WebinarOctober 22, 2010 Follow-up on All e-Stewards Face-2-Face Meeting New Orleans, LA Sept 28, 2010

  2. e-Waste Trends Your Sales People Must Know • OEMs and Local Governments’ Acceptance of e-Stewards • EPA Acceptance of e-Stewards • Governments around the world enforcing e-Stewards compliant export bans

  3. OEMs and Local Governments’ Acceptance of e-Stewards • Sony: Have now confirmed that they support both e-Stewards and R2 Certifications. But have signed the ETBC/BAN Manufacturer’s Commitment which is only consistent with the e-Stewards Standard. • Dell: Supports National Legislation, has agreed no export of non-functional hazardous e-waste which is consistent only with the e-Stewards Standard. • HP: Has agreed no export of non-functional hazardous e-waste. Consistent only with the e-Stewards Standard

  4. OEMs and Local Government’s Acceptance of e-Stewards Samsung: First OEM to become an e-Stewards Enterprise – always making best efforts to use e-Stewards Recyclers LG: Have a policy no export to developing countries, no prison labor and no use of landfills for hazardous e-waste. This is fully consistent with e-Stewards and not R2 Asus: Uses only an e-Stewards Vendor for all of its take-back programs Apple: Threw its support behind the national export legislation that is only consistent with e-Stewards

  5. OEMs and Local Government’s Acceptance of e-Stewards MRM (includes Panasonic, Sharp, Toshiba, Mitzubishi, Vizio) has the following policy: “Vendors must demonstrate compliance with R2 Standards PLUS no use of prison labor or export of electronic waste to non-OECD countries….If a vendor has a Certification from another organization that has established standards that meet the MRM requirements, such as the Certification from the E-Stewards TM program, MRM will accept that Certification.”

  6. OEMs and Local Government’s Acceptance of e-Stewards Local Governments Getting on-Board Santa Clara County (Silicon Valley): All of the e-waste generated by County government (a $4 billion organization with 15,000 employees) and collected by the County from its 1.8 million residents is recycled by e-Stewards pledged/certified recyclers. Seattle, San Jose and many more to come!

  7. EPA Acceptance of e-Stewards • Agreed to Support Both R2 and e-Stewards: “There are existing recycling certification programs, such as R2 and eStewards that EPA believes advance environmentally safe practices and includes standards for use in third party certification of such efforts.” • Agreed to Link to e-Stewards Website • Would like to work with us on a “Get Certified” campaign.

  8. R2 is a Subset of e-Stewards • e-Stewards is R2 + no export to developing countries / International Export rules • e-Stewards is R2 + no prison labor • e-Stewards is R2 + no landfilling of toxics • e-Stewards is R2 + more prudent / targetted occupational health criteria • e-Stewards is R2 + support of more than 70 environmental organizations
