Katie Kinman6th grade Teacher Clark-Pleasant Intermediate • Received a Honorable mention in the Indy Southside Magazine as one of her favorite teachers, Sarah Blair, student at Clark-Pleasant Intermediate School. Sarah states, “Miss Kinman will take the time to make sure you understand the lesson. No matter what your problem is, she will listen to you. She tries to make learning fun, like in probability we used dice to see and predict what number it would land on. She makes homework sheets into puzzles. She does not tolerate bullying. The reason why I am doing this is because she has become more than a teacher, like a friend to me.” Congratulations, Miss Kinman! mg

  5. “The Outsiders: Jeff Stanley’s Fourth-Grade Conservationists” • Article in DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION, Solutions for School District Management – October 2010 • The OUTDOOR LEARNING LABS, “Going Green” was entered into the “Disney Planet Challenge”, an environmental and science competition for grades 3-8 that encourages students to make a difference in their schools, their communities and at home. cLARK eLEMENTARY sCHOOL

  7. Presenting…Clark-Pleasant Middle School Historian Club • On Tuesday, December 21, 2010 the Historian Club at Clark-Pleasant Middle School was recognized. The club advisor, Mrs. Debbie Pickett had the students investigating the community’s past. Toni Young…WCHS Student • Recognized at the regularly scheduled board meeting on December 21, 2010. • The Indy South Magazine published an article regarding Miss Young’s achievements and aspirations she has accomplished in her very young life! • She was chosen by a school administrator and then selected by the Indy South Magazine as one of five honorable youth of the Southside. Some of Toni’s loves & aspirations: Always loved going to school… …Ranked fifth in her class of 400 Cross-country/Track & Cheerleader… …Reading & Learning Working a part-time job… …Volunteers with SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Attending Indiana University in the fall to study chemistry & biology in hopes to become a surgeon.

Mr. Pete Sampson, Band Director • Mr. Sampson was invited to attend the 2011 Symposium on Music in Schools this summer and was named a Yale Distinguished Music Educator. • A total of 335 music educators from 45 states were nominated, and 50 teachers were selected for the award. WCHS • Mr. Sampson is the only recipient from Indiana. Congratulations, Mr. Sampson!

  16. Many thanks for going “above and beyond”Erin Brodbeck Pleasant Crossing Elementary School Teacher Helping a student who was not breathing from choking. Ms. Brodbeck performed the Heimlich maneuver to help dislodged the food.

  17. Congratulations – Terry Magnuson! • Principal of Pleasant Crossing Elementary School and a longtime basketball official, was honored by the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, May 2011. • Center Circle Officials Award was given to Mr. Magnuson in recognition of his contributions to Indiana High School Basketball.
