Getting started • Open the “GRADE NINE TITLE BLOCK” • It will give you a message this file is locked – save it as “YOUR NAME LESSON ONE”
How to start a command • Choose the command required • From the pull down menu • From the shortcut keys • If in doubt type it out (on the command line ) • Follow the command prompts from the command line • Press enter to finish the command • Press esc to abort a command
Draw commands • Line • Circle • Arc • Try the others to see what they do
Layers • Used to control the view of the drawing • Objects can be turned on and off by layer • Controls attributes of the objects on the layer • Color, line type, line weight • Create a Template drawing with your layers • Do not put objects on the Defpoints layer- will not print
Saving your work • Save often (about every 15 min) • Save to two locations H: drive and a backup – floppy disk or jump drive • Caution – if you save to cad network folder it will be erased when you log off • Name your work appropriately – your name and project ex. John smith house design
Toggle commands • Snap • Grid • Ortho • Polar • Osnap
Co–ordinate system • Based on input of x and y co-ordinates (x is the first input y is second) • Absolute – based on the point relative to the origin 0,0 x,y • Relative – based on the point relative to the last point @x,y • Polar- based on a distance and an angle @distance<angle (ex. @10<45)
Modify commands • Erase • Copy • Move • Rotate • Stretch • Mirror • Trim • Array • Try the others to see what they do
