The start point – towards registration of teachers in the system The system sends the principal an email with a link to the system and a short explanation for the teachers. Each stage of the gram starts with a teaser email from the system: Dear teachers, this year we have decided to participate in an exciting entrepreneurship journey, in which we will all take an active part. You have been selected to participate in an assignment game, the purpose of which is to bring to our school the implementation of new educational initiatives, which you will create and lead together as a team. Registration of teachers to the system Upon entering the system, the teacher is asked to answer a short opinion survey To what extent do you identify with the following statements on a scale of 1-5 I can identify a school need that requires change I believe I can influence school’s reality There are school challenges that I am willing to make an extra effort in order to deal with I can recruit the entire teaching staff to an initiative Teachers are free to promote their initiatives at the school Teachers’ initiatives are appreciated and respected at the school 2 2
Dream Harbor – Raising ideas/dreams Questions for focusing the dream: What was your dream when you started working in education? If anything were possible – a supervisor that agrees to anything, parents that agree and passionate students, what would you do completely different at the school? Can you imagine school without teachers? If school were open only one day a week, what would happen? If you were offered to change the school into a chocolate factory, what would you do with this opportunity? If the national School Efficiency and Growth Test and matriculation exams were cancelled, what new fields of content would you introduce into the students’ daily routine? Deliberations preceding the new budget resulted in tripling of the education system’s budget for schools, what would you do with the money? A new teachers’ college decided to work with you, and teachers who finish training pass through your school. You get 60 extra staff members each year. What would you do with them? Dream Harbor – Connecting between dreams This stage can begin once at least 20 ideas have been raised by five different teachers. The goal is to connect between similar or identical dreams and check teams. 3 3
Dream Harbor – Choosing the dream / team Each teacher chooses a sailboat Teachers are free to connect with another team at any stage in the process. A sailboat may be sunk if all team members agree to do so. 3 3
Isle-deal – an image of the future "You’re invited to dream here, break theboundaries of imagination, beyond identification of the need: what would it look like once the need you identified receives a comprehensive solution at the school? Be very specific in your description and phrase it in present tense: you come to the school… in the future image, in which the need has been fulfilled – what do you see? What are the students doing? Treasure cave – Drowning the Fear An invitation to play “Drowning the Fear” in the system and earn coins. 1st task: “Drowning the Fear” game Fears: supervision, parents, authority, work load, Efficiency and Growth Test, what will people say?, students, failure, success, taking responsibility, position holders at the school Each player needs to drown the three fears they consider most scary 2nd task: three fearless team ideas At the end of the game – “Now that you have drowned all your fears, what would you do at the school, if you knew you could not fail / will necessarily succeed”.
