ARTFUL SCIENCE A potpourri of images copied from open sources on the Internet. These images were made using various kinds of microscopes for subjects viewed under a variety of illumination conditions and preparative methods. The color in most of the images is called false color. The color is there in most cases, but it is not an intrinsic property of the substance. Think about a soap bubble or oil slick on water.
