Why Have You Chosen This Career? • I want to be able to help athletes get well and be able to let them play the sport they love, pain free.
What all does this job entail? • I would develop treatment plans to help patients develop or restore function lost as a result of an illness or injury.
What degree do you need? It would take a very long six years to become a physical therapist. Three years of medical generals and three years of learning and assisting (in clinics) hands on work . With this you get a DPT (Doctorate in Physical Therapy)
What Schools would be good to attend to prepare for the career? • ASU (Angelo State University) • Hardin Simmons • Texas Tech • A&M
What Salary Would You Earn? • I would earn about $52,000 -$60,000 a year!
What hours would you work? • I would be able to choose my hours depending on what is best for the patients work schedules.
Positive and Negative aspects of a Physical Therapist … Pros: • Get to choose work hours • Lots of money $$$$ • Getting athletes back to the sport they love Cons: • A lot of patience • Emotionally close to the injured • More than four years of education needed.
You would have to learn how to read/write out prescriptions and keep records of each patients progression. • Know each patients threshold (limit) ‘ • Be encouraging and stay positive
