Physical Therapist help injured or ill people improve their movement and manage their pain • Occupational Therapist- based on engagement in meaning activities of daily life. Occupational Therapists work with clients to help them achieve a fulfilled and satisfied state in life

  3. WORK ENVIORMENT • Occupational Therapists would normally work at hospitals, clinics, day and rehabilitation centers, home care programs, special schools, industry, and private enterprises. • Physical Therapists rehabilitation hospitals, home health agencies.

Qualifications-Education • When becoming an Occupational Therapist you would need to follow these steps: • Step 1: Earn an Associates or a Bachelors degree • Step 2: Earn a masters or doctorate degree • Step 3: Pass the NBCOT exam • Step 4: apply for the license. • Depending on the degree you want to maintain it will take longer for you to actually have your license to become an occupational therapist. It you only have an associates degree then you will only be an assistant. A lot of community colleges don’t offer this • When becoming a Physical Therapist you would need to follow these steps: • Step 1: Complete an undergraduate program • Step 2: Earn an graduate degree • Step 3: Obtain License • Step 4: Attend a residency program

Qualifications- Licensure/ Certificates • To be licensed as an occupational therapist in New York State you must: Be of good moral character Be at least 21 years of age Meet education and examination requirements • To be licensed as a physical therapist in New York State you must: Be of good moral character Be at least 18 years of age Meet education and examination requirements File an application (Form 1 and fee)

  10. JOB OUTLOOK • If you want to obtain a job in Occupational Therapy there would be 113,200 jobs available and the job percent will increase by 29% • For Physical Therapy there would be over 204,200 jobs available and it will increase by 36%

  11. Significance • Physical and Occupational Therapist are important because you would be making a difference. You would become an expert at the career in which you would be saving lives. You would also be able to diagnose the patient and work with them until the become 100% healthy. • This field contributes to the health field and the community at large because it ranges in many different ways. There are physical therapist all around

  13. What we thought…. • From this project we have learned the differences/ similarities with being an occupational and physical therapist. They both allow you to work hands on with a patient but, both will also test your skills as well. With being a physical therapist and an occupational therapist you would need to learn how to be patience and not get angry when the patient you are working with doesn’t catch on as fast as you would like them to. Something that we found interesting was the amount of available jobs that each have available. Some questions that we had was where did physical/ occupational therapy actually come from? Who was the first person to actually undergo physical/ occupational therapy.
