Research Hypothesis Proper research and development can make earth construction an acceptable and sustainablealternative to conventional techniques (It can even make earth construction a standard building method. Acceptability Model • Criteria for target communities • Comparison: (i) Building with corrugated iron sheets & plastic (worse, but earth building is just as cheap); (ii) Building with concrete blocks (just as good, but earth building is cheaper) • Desk research & questionnaire data • Transform data to normality when needed • Perform Principal Component Analysis to unveil associations • Pinpoint causal relationships • Predict acceptability, showing the best interventions to increase acceptance J.E.M.H. van Bronswijk, TU Eindhoven
