  2. Early Life • Born in rural Glasgow 1955 • Birthday 2 days before Christmas • Learned to love English in Stafford Girls’ High School, having enjoyed reading from early ages

  3. Career • Studied philosophy, but became a poet (No idea of whether she couldn’t find a job from philosophy) • Poet critic for the guardian • Laureate of U.K after T. Hughes Dies

  4. Style of writing • Duffy’s works explore every day situations and incidents that go around other people, and tells stories from their point of view • Known as ‘Ventriloquism’

  5. Poetry • Expressed feminist edge, suggesting that she could’ve been something of an activist • E.g. : Standing Female Nude

  6. Plays • Titles could’ve gone against male domination, or talked of men in funny manners • E.g. : Take My Husband or Little Women, Big Boys
