Laboratory Programmatic activities TB case notification rates: 2005-2009 Number of TB notifications by type of TB: 2005-2009 Treatment outcome: 2007 and 2008 cohorts Treatment success is sum of cured and completed. Treatment success is total of sum of cured and completed treatment • Main issues • Achievements: • On going capacity building • EQA services - • Update TB data through Quarterly M&E • Challenges: • DOT during maintenance phase treatment • Developments of policies and guidelines to address TB/HIV co-infections and MDR • These can be successes and challenges. Treatment success and case detection rates (new sputum smear positive cases): 2005-2009 Conclusion Case detection rate is below 50%, therefore more support and effort is needed to achieve the 70% target indicator.
