Master Plan Presentation November 4, 2012
St. Luke Core Purposes • We focus on our mission: Worship, Connect, Serve, and Grow in our faith • We envision: spiritual growth, serving our neighbors, welcoming all, connecting all ages, promoting peace and social justice in the community and the world • As we begin our 70th year of ministry—we recognize that others laid the foundation of our church and we continue the work for future generations. • The theme for the building project is: “Building on our Faith”—this will have different meanings for us which we will explore as the year progresses.
Property Team Outcomes • Gathered input from dozens of groups and stakeholders to identify and prioritize the facility needs of the congregation, • Were guided by the St. Luke Vision Statement in the development of a facilities plan where we can more fully live out our mission to worship, connect, serve, and grow in faith; • Collaborated with various constituencies, including neighborhood associations and the City of Portland, to achieve the vacation of SW Florida and SW 46th Streets; • Hired and worked with architects to develop a comprehensive master plan for improving the church’s facilities; and • Communicated regularly throughout the process with the St. Luke congregation, staff, and Council.
Master Plan Features Needs assessments identified requirements for facilities • Multipurpose hall with lobby, kitchen, and restrooms • Flexibility to hold large and small gatherings • Position us for future ministries and community outreach • Added classroom and meeting space • Renovated and enlarged office and volunteer work space • Renovation of existing building • Enlarged narthex connected to new building • Enhanced worship space, music ministry, and A/V space • Enhancement of outside and parking areas • Site improvements to meet city requirements
