West midlands Professional exchange, 2019

This professional exchange in the West Midlands focused on the outcomes of blended learning and supporting new teachers. The exchange involved face-to-face meetings, online progress meetings, outcomes-sharing meetings, and communication and file-sharing via Edmodo. The exchange groups from various educational institutions explored the use of digital tools for collaboration and organization, such as Edmodo and Doodle polls. The investigations resulted in the implementation of various blended learning strategies, including the use of Kahoot! for consolidation and collaborative learning using Padlet. Google Classroom was utilized for setting and monitoring written tasks and sharing documents. The exchange also emphasized the importance of learner engagement and implemented strategies such as context and relevance, collaborative tools, user-generated content, celebrating successes, and star ratings. The participating institutions implemented various initiatives, including the integration of blended learning resources within courses, the utilization of SmartVLE for apprenticeship candidates, and the enhancement of learner engagement in Initial Teacher Training courses. Furthermore, the exchange led to the development of nudges of engagement and the dissemination of resources such as the Enhanced Digital Teaching Platform and the Duke of York iDEA program. Lifetime Training conducted a skills survey and provided personalized CPD, while PTP Training implemented video how-to guides for staff and learners and explored the integration of more technology in the classroom.
