  1. JH Weekly update • ALCT and TMB web pages were updated • http://cmsdoc.cern.ch/cms/MUON/cscTrigger/html/CERN/ • Would like to get pictures of “new” TMB board, better pics of ALCT boards • Bad point in ALCT rx prediction? • New predictions - AFEB fine delay corrections • Time-of-flight corrections necessary • RMS (predicted delay – Dayong delay) is about 4 ns • Terentiev study of drift_delay based on raw hits is underway • 1.8v ALCT fuses blowing problem • ALCT fuses? 5A • Overvoltage  zeners draw current  fuses blow? • Bad zener diodes? • Idea from Korytov: TMBDMB bits to confirm the pretrigger? • Can it be done? • Do we want to do it? CSC Sync Taskforce Meeting hauser@physics.ucla.edu

  2. ALCT rx prediction • Works well based on formula on previous slide CSC Sync Taskforce Meeting hauser@physics.ucla.edu

  3. ME-2 x ME-3 I.P. YE-2 -Z Slice Test chambers used: ME-2/2/15 ME-2/2/16 ME-2/1/8 ME-2/2/17 ME-2/1/9 ME-2/2/18 ME-2/1/10 ME-2/2/19 ME-2/2/20 N.B. ME-2/1/9 offline ME-3: same set of chambers CSC Sync Taskforce Meeting hauser@physics.ucla.edu

  4. TOF delays, illustrated • Sideways (f-z) view: Cosmic rays come equally from both sides, so ME3-ME2 time differences cancel: dT ~ +5 ns dT ~ -5 ns ME-2/2/17 ME-3/2/17 YE2 steel But f=17 to f=18 time differences are significant: dT ~ +5 ns dT ~ +5 ns ME-2/2/18 ME-3/2/18 1.4 m CSC Sync Taskforce Meeting hauser@physics.ucla.edu

  5. Result of adding TOF corrections • (Added 25ns to time for ME-2/2/17 since +1 bx on mpc_tx_delay) • Time spread of MEx/2 is very small, much larger for MEx/1 small chambers CSC Sync Taskforce Meeting hauser@physics.ucla.edu

  6. Predictions of AFEB fine delays • Compare to Dayong values, taking into account: • Skewclear cable delay • TOF corrections • AFEB “flat-top” model • 480 AFEBs shown • Differences between predicted and actual setting: • RMS=2.0 bins, ~4.4 ns CSC Sync Taskforce Meeting hauser@physics.ucla.edu

  7. Predictions by chamber type • “Small” chambers, i.e. MEx/1: • Mean=-0.1 bins (-0.2 ns), RMS=2.4 bins (~4.8 ns) • 192 AFEBs • A large part of the RMS is chamber-to-chamber variations CSC Sync Taskforce Meeting hauser@physics.ucla.edu

  8. Predictions by chamber type • “Large” chambers, i.e. MEx/2: • Mean=0.0, RMS=1.64 bins (~3.6 ns) • 288 AFEBs • A large part of the RMS is chamber-to-chamber variations CSC Sync Taskforce Meeting hauser@physics.ucla.edu

  9. DMB timing parameters • Some DMB parameters never change, by construction • The ones that do need adjustment by chamber are: • cfeb_cable_delay • tmb_lct_cable_delay • cfeb_dav_cable_delay • alct_dav_cable_delay • *** Develop new plots and formulas here!
