Studies show that even a brief presentation with 4 or 5 points will leave an impression on the recipient. Education and skill building are essential for prevention and/or sustainable change
Resources are what can lead a person to change Whether hand delivered or left at a display, resources serve as a less invasive messenger that can be revisited on the recipient’s terms. Remember to emphasize the availability of resources throughout your presentation.
Empowerment of individuals with the community connections will lead to their recognition for the need of services for themselves or their family members Remember to highlight the community connections such as Problem Gambling Services, Bettor Choice, CT Council on Problem Gambling, The On-Line Chat etc. when presenting to the general population.
Respect and dignity must be maintained at all times – it is a personal choice to engage in risk taking activities. Whether talking with a fellow Masuk student or a community member you are meeting for the first time, put on your listening ears and withhold judgment.Recognize and honor each person’s unique strengths.
