  4. John Gee, BYU In these passages, the verb to cross is used as a synonym for to contradict… All of these passages are in the context of legal interrogation. Alma, having been a judge himself for eight years uses a legal metaphor with his wayward son. He talks about how Corianton had “been guilty of so great a crime” and that his crimes “will stand as a testimony against [him] at the last day.” By repenting and forsaking his sins, Corianton can cross—contradict—the testimony of his crimes. Alma then urges his son “to counsel with [his] elder brothers” and to “give heed to their counsel,” thus using his brothers the way a defendant uses a legal counsel (Alma 39:7–10).

To Sum up… Restoration “to their proper order” is something required by the very nature of things… And as long as one soul, or a thing, remains and enemy of His, or its desires are unrighteous, His work will not be finished. Through the power of Christ’s resurrection no only will the mortal body and spirit of man be restored one to another, but also it made possible that all things, both good and bad, evil and righteous, should return to their place of origin, or to where there they born. It is impossible for such opposites to dwell together eternally. Goodness will be restored to the good, and evil to the realm of Satan.
