Cross Culture Management Student Research Presentation
General Guidelines • Students will form groups and present to the class a 15 minute presentation on a research topic of interest to the group • The topics must be related to the Cross-culture management field • The methodology can follow a quantitative based approach (etic tools) or a qualitative based approach (emic tools)
Topic Examples • Research the value dimensions of a unique group in Thailand using Schwartz’s Value Survey and assess its fit to current market theory/research • Uncover an etic based research tool used to investigate an area of interest. Example use a ethics measurement questionnaire to 2 separate groups of students and compare.
Topic Examples – MNC/Small Business • Investigate the H/R policy of a MNC in terms of sending employees to work in overseas assignments • Interview negotiator of a MNC (qualitative) and describe differences in negotiation behaviors across cultures • Investigate differences in organizational culture across MNC and comment why this is so and relationship to national culture dimensions • Marketing differences of a similar product across regions/nations.
Presentation • 15 minutes • Power points used- no more than 10 slides • A summary of your findings will be distributed to the class ( Max 2 pages not including references page) • Both PPTs and summary will be put online • A 5 minute Q/A period will follow the presentation • One or all of team members may present. • Presentations will begin in Week 11
