  26. Printing New printers are on the market that can be used with iPads.

  27. Printing from Pages Send your Pages files to yourself to be printed from a computer.

  28. Parent Information • Parent information meetings will be held in the spring and summer 2011. • Students will sign an iPad contract when they sign their tuition agreements. • The iPad contract would be consistent with the current digital camera contract students in the Digital Photography class sign.

  29. Leasing vs. Buying • If Maryvale buys the iPads, we have the option to keep, donate or sell them on the secondary market at the end of 3 yrs. • Leasing locks us in to Apple for 3 years if we trade-in but not if we buy them for a $1 each at the end of that time, in which case they are ours and we move forward with a newer iPad or a different device altogether.

  30. Lease Information • Lease - AppleEquity option • Maryvale can buy the iPads at the end of the 3 year lease term for $1.00 per iPad. • Trade in the old iPads for new iPads only, eliminating the chance to change to a new or better device that may be available. • Add new iPads during the lease term without increasing our term. • Can add newer iPads to the units we already have. • Leasing is more expensive than buying.

  31. Why Buy? • Total purchase price: $298,431.00 • Includes iPad case, 3 yr Apple Plan, separate insurance for accidental damage • Approximately $100,000/year • Increase student technology fees by $150/year • Maryvale will own the iPads and can choose to keep, sell, donate, or discard old devices. • Does not lock us in to using iPads in the future.

  32. Financial info

  33. Costs Comparison

  34. iPads for All Students • Maryvale would purchase • Allow students to use a Maryvale iPad for 3 yrs. • This would guarantee 3 things: • Each student has the same model iPad and access to the same info all of the time while on campus. • Each student has access to the Internet and her email while at a school. • All operating systems and equipment are consistent across the campus.

  35. Refresh Strategy • Replace all iPads purchased in 2011 after three years with newer versions of iPads or another comparable device. • Investigate newer devices on the market at that time

  36. Conclusion • Allowing students access to the Internet and electronic resources is vital to attracting new students and maintaining our student population at Maryvale. • Piloting an iPad program for one year would give us valuable information regarding its use inside and outside of the classroom.

  37. Educational comparisons between other devices and the iPad indicate that the iPad would suit our students’ needs. • Buying the iPad and by assessing a yearly $150.00 device fee, instead of having the students purchase their own, allows for all families at MVP to afford this technologically advanced learning tool for their daughters.
