Reading Day • Reminder: We read the first 10 pages of Anthem last week • Today: Finish reading chapter 1. Complete a double-entry journal as you read • quote + page # on the left; comments/notes on the right • at least one entry per page of text
Exit Slip • Look back through your double-entry notes. Choose one quote. Write it on the same paper as your journal from the start of class. Write 3+ sentences explaining why you chose that quote and why it is important!
Tomorrow… • We are going to learn about Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave”! • Brief background on Plato: Greek philosopher, 428(?) BCE – 387 BCE. Famous for his writings (Republic, Symposium, etc.) Plato was a student of Socrates. • Connect-the-dots between ancient Greek philosophy, Ayn Rand’s 1930’s philosophy, and modern thinking
