  2. CONGRATULATIONS! As a Title I School, our students now have many additional educational opportunities! These opportunities will academically advance all students by providing additional staff, technology applications, high-quality professional development and numerous supplemental educational resources

  3. What is the legal framework for Title 1? Elementary and Secondary Act of 1965 No Child Left Behind Legislation of 2002

  4. What is the purpose of Title1? To ensure that ALL children, regardless of economic status : a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education, and Reach proficiency on challenging state standards and assessments

How Spicer Elementary was Awarded a Title I Allocation Title 1 allocations are awarded based on the number of students who qualify for free /reduced lunch A campus is eligible to receive funds when the number of students for free/reduced lunch reaches 40% 64.3% of students at John D Spicer Elementary qualify for free/reduced lunch

  8. Defining Title 1Schoolwide Vs. Targeted Assistance Schoolwide programs use funds and resources to upgrade the entire educational program of the school in order to raise the academic achievement for all students. ALL BISD TITLE I CAMPUSES HAVE SCHOOLWIDE PROGRAMS. Targeted Assistance programs use funds for supplementary educational services only for a small group of identified children who met criteria determined by the school

  9. Title 1 School Requirements Meet the purpose of Title I School must incorporate instructional strategies based on scientifically based research Implement parental involvement activities Supplement, not supplant other efforts Detail in campus improvement plan how Title I funds will be used.

  11. How is this $$$ being used?Example Targets: Math Support ELA Support Professional Learning Tutoring Parental Involvement Provide instruction by highly qualified teachers and educational assistants

Collaboration involving parents and staff Begin with a comprehensive needs assessment that includes a thorough analysis of student achievement data Target the student group(s) most in need of academic assistance Explore the possibilities within budget and compliance guidelines that are aligned with best practice

Conduct annual Title 1 meeting Offer flexible number of meetings Include in planning and review of Title I program Provide information in home language Provide information about qualifications of teachers and EA’s Develop a school parent compact Develop a campus parent involvement policy

  14. How can we help? Get Involved! Spread the good news! Stay focused on the targets for improvements. Participate in planning and Title I evaluation efforts Encourage families to complete free and reduced lunch forms
