  1. Get organized and be Successful We all know that a well-organised setup always has a better chance of being successful than a disorganised one. BE ORGANIZED The well-organised setup, whether that is an office arrangement, a sports team getting ready for competition or even a hunting club where members are setting up for all members’ benefit, will always be characterized by fewer hiccups, less frustration and great memories of time spent together. A hunting club, for example, consists of a number of likeminded people – hunters – that get together and form a unit which offers them the benefits that be derived by being a club. For example, a well-organized unit may find it much easier than individuals to find the best hunting opportunities, the best leases and the best hunting lodges or other accommodations for the duration of their stay when they spend time enjoying their leisure time as hunters. SHARED GOALS A club, generally speaking, offers members the kind of value, financially as well as emotionally, that the individual may not always find so easily. The camaraderie, the feeling of belonging to a group, is often one of the outstanding features of these clubs. Of course, it is always important to remember that the best clubs’ members share the same ideas and that they can cooperate as a group when necessary. It is no good to have members with too many different ideas about issues such as where to hunt, which season to hunt and the like: you want to belong to a club that is marked by members of similar interest and similar disposition, members who work together for the benefit of everybody else.

  2. There are different types of hunting clubs, and therefore it is advisable that members understand the type of club they’re joining. Also, setting up a club can be fairly easy to do, if those belonging to it all agree that they are there to share similar experiences whether their preference is for wingshooting or for deer hunting, for example. The hunt itself forms only part of one’s experience as a member. Other qualities you are looking for include camaraderie, friendship, shared experiences of joy and happiness. Also, make sure that the club you join book hunts in the region or typography you like most whether that is the wide open space or the mountainous regions with thick vegetation and rivers – lots of water. These are important considerations since most hunters have limited time during the year due to other responsibilities. Make sure you are with a club that shares your passions, your ideals and what you are hoping for. RULES The best clubs are normally those with a set of rules for all to abide by, and members who heed this principle contribute towards feelings of a shared bond, togetherness and behaving in a way that is aimed at the common good of everybody in the group. Clubs form their own rules with regard to meeting times, who the members may be, whether or not – and under what circumstances – they may bring guests such as girlfriends, wives and children with them. It is, therefore, important to remember how you want to define your specific club. Is it a family club, or a men’s club only? Every club lays down the rules that all members abide by. Members – often under the leadership of their own president if they’re a fairly large group - will make specific arrangements about when and where to apply for leases, how to handle shared expenses, how to behave in general when the club members arrive for the duration of the hunt and their time together. Thus: a well-organized club has rules that everybody needs to honor. MANAGING LAND The best clubs will always look at the importance of land management for the deer, for example, that they want to hunt. They will team up with conservationists and wildlife specialists to help ensure that quality buck is always raised. This applies to all involved, whether you are the owner of land that you lease out to hunters, or club members that want to do their bit for conservation – which most hunters understand and support the ideals of. Hunting clubs are meant for likeminded people, people that get on well together as a group of hunters, individuals that share a passion with others for the greater good of all.
