  8. Resolving the conflict • Wilkin & Sons submit the plans to Colchester planning department. • Colchester BC undertake a sustainability appraisal.

Colchester BC’s Findings… • The conclusion of that appraisal was that “Wilkinand Son’s is an important part of Tiptree’s culture and heritage and the loss of the factory and associated uses would bring many adverse affects to the character of Tiptree and the Borough as a whole if Wilkin’s moved outside of Colchester. The appraisal therefore considered that to maintain Tiptree’s local distinctiveness and economy the proposal to extend the factory onto land to the south should be supported in principle.”

  10. Resolving the conflict • Wilkin & Sons submit the plans to Colchester planning department. • Colchester BC undertake a sustainability appraisal. • Wilkin & Sons undertake a consultation under the localism bill. • Colchester Planning Department Approval/Disproval. • Right to appeal.
