COLLOQUIUM NXP - Tuesday June 29, 2010 at Collegezaal Potentiaal-building (PT 1.05) • Title: Research on High-Performance Mixed-signal products • Speaker: dr. ir. Hans Rijns, VP and head of NXP Research • Time: 16.00 hrs • Abstract: • NXP Semiconductors is one of the largest mixed-signal companies in the world. With 28.000 employees and a turn-over of 3.5 B$ in 2009 NXP is a major player in supplying mixed-signal integrated circuits to consumer, communication and computer equipment producers. In the facilities in Nijmegen and in Eindhoven over 1000 engineers work on the technology, design and packaging of high-performance mixed-signal products. • In this presentation a short introduction to NXP Semiconductors and its strategy will be given. The NXP high-performance mixed-signal strategy is based on three pillars: Functional performance, Efficiency and Robustness and versatility. • These areas include disciplines from new sensor concepts to advanced digital correction algorithms, and from photo-voltaic energy generation to autonomous signal processing. The presentation will highlight some topics of the exciting work that is performed in NXP Research. • Title: Micro Electrical and Mechanical Systems • Speaker: dr. Peter Steeneken, principal scientist, NXP Research • Time: 16.30u • MEMS are a key enabler in the NXP high-performance strategy. This new class of devices opens opportunities for sensing, time accuracy and break-throughs in various other domains. In this talk the new developments in MEMS devices for RF switching, sensor and Timing devices at NXP will be presented.
