I am planning on looking at numerous magazine front covers and contents pages to get an idea as to what I would like to do for my magazine. I am planning on creating a magazine which appeals to people who like a certain genre of music (the genre which I would like to use in my magazine). Within the magazine I would like to include things that you’d find in popular rock magazines like Kerrang! Or Rock Sound. Things you’d normally find in these type of magazines are, gig reviews, album reviews, interviews with bands and posters. I’ve decided to include things like this because it’s something you’d expect to find in a music magazine. I also think that including things like that will appeal to my target audience because I’d expect them to buy magazines which include things like that so my magazine would be similar to magazines previously bought and hopefully would attract my target audience. For the front cover my magazine, I'm using a band called Run Into Exile and I've decided to use them because they fit the genre of music which I'm using in my magazine. I would like to take photos of them on the bandstand in Stafford Park, but if we can’t use that space, I could just use other areas of the town park.

I would like to take photos of them on the bandstand in Stafford Park, but if we can’t use that space, I could just use other areas of the town park. • To give me an idea of what I'd like to call my magazine, I went onto a random name generator and found a good name on there. • I’ve decided on what band I'd like to use on my double page spread. • Decided on what I'd like the layout of my front cover to be like. • I’ve got an idea of what I'd like to include in my magazine.
My magazine will be aimed at people in the ‘reformers’ group of the Young And Rubicam’s audience types so I created a survey which would help me decide on what I'd need to include in my magazine to make it appeal to my specific audience. For example, one question on the questionnaire was ‘what colours would you like to see?’, and I gave a few examples of colours that you’d expect to see in a magazine for this genre, such as, black, red, white etc. So hopefully the answers to the questionnaire will help me decide what colours to use in my magazine and what would be suitable for my target audience. Another question I used on my questionnaire was ‘what would you like to see on the double page spread?’ and I included answers such as, gig reviews, artist reviews, album reviews etc. I’ll use programs such as InDesign to design my double page spread and photoshop to design my front cover.
