  2. President’s Message By Barbara Greenfield, RN, BSN, CCM, CNLCP Dear RNS Members and Friends, It is with humility, trepidation, enthusiasm, and excitement that I accept this new challenge and adventure as President of RNS. I came to RNS three years ago with a great friend and mentor Gerry Aster. She and I had known each other for many years. However in January of 2008 we were, by design, thrown together in a new relationship. I purchased Gerry’s successful independent case management, rehabilitation, and nurse consulting business. I was excited and ready for the challenge. I have learned an incredible amount of new information about the world of rehab in the last three years. Much of what I have learned has come from the time spent at RNS meetings. I have been lucky in my career that I have been mentored by many wonderful nurses, not the least was Gerry. I look upon RNS as a small but powerful community of remarkable nurses and providers of care who have the ability to be exceptional mentors. Together we have the ability to learn, teach, and strive to provide innovative, creative, and quality care to our clients and patients. I believe that RNS has growth potential. There are nurses who may just be entering the rehab community or like me have new opportunity. Reach out and encourage others you encounter to attend RNS meetings! Many of our members have already done so. I look forward in the coming months to hearing from all of you. What have you grown to expect and what do you wish for in the future from RNS? I was thrilled to meet with the board on December 2nd to find out what they have planned for the next year. To name a few things: 1. We are looking forward to making it easier to remember our meetings and pay - using online tools, 2. We want the RNS web site to become a more robust center for information, resources, and networking, and 3. We are looking for speakers that will create excitement and interest in our organization. We are a small but mighty organization and with your support RNS will continue to be an organization that provides community, support, and a nexus for learning. Thank You - To our business partners that continue to provide great gifts for the raffle at each meeting. Our fabulous Holiday Meeting was no exception.
