Homogeneous mixture – A mixture so evenly mixed that you can’t see the different parts (“well” mixed)
Solution – a homogeneous mixture in which one substance is dissolved in another substance (“best” mixed)
Solute – the substance that is dissolved; the substance there is less of
Solvent – the substance that does the dissolving; the substance there is more of
Solubility – maximum amount of solute that can be dissolved in a definite amount of solvent at a specific temperature
Unsaturated – solutions that contain less solute than it can possibly hold at a given temperature
Supersaturated – a solution that is made to hold more solute at a given temperature than is normal
Suspensions – a heterogeneous mixture in which the solute particles are temporarily suspended, but will eventually settle out
Colloids – a homogeneous mixture that is not a true solution; the solute particles are kept permanently suspended.
