Appeasement • Noun; the giving in to an aggressor in order to keep the peace
Atomic Bomb • Noun; an extremely destructive bomb whose power results from the chain reaction of nuclear fission
Concentration Camp • Noun; a place where large numbers of people are deliberately imprisoned in a relatively small area with inadequate facilities, sometimes to provide forced labor or to await mass execution.
Depression • Noun; a sharp and prolonged downturn in the economy
Fascism • Noun; a nationalist system of government that endorses violence and dictatorship to achieve its goals
Holocaust • Noun; the term used to refer to the Nazi’s murder of millions of people during WWII, most notably the Jews
Inflation • Noun; an economic situation in which there is more money with less value
Island Hopping • Noun; a military strategy used by the Allies in WWII where islands in the Pacific were “leapfrogged” in order to reach more significant targets
Scapegoat • Noun; a person or group that bears the blame for the mistakes of others
