Most people familiar with the story of Jonah know about the “great fish” or whale that swallowed Jonah (1:17) • There is no question that the miracle of the whale is important as referenced by Jesus (Mt. 12:38-41) • However, there are several other “great” things in the story of Jonah that are worth our attention
A Great Call (1:1-2) • The same great call (responsibility) is required of us today (Mk. 16:15; Ac. 8:4; 2 Thess. 2:14) • A Great City (1:2; 3:2,3; 4:11; Gen. 10:11) • The same great need and opportunity for soul-saving is found today (Rom. 6:23; 1 Cor. 16:9)
