  3. What is a verb? Hmm…what’s a verb?

  4. Averb is a word used to show: An action A condition A state of being

  5. Verb Tenses A tense is a verb form that shows the time of an action or condition.

  6. Verbs have three simple tenses: The present (now!) The past(yesterday!) The future (tomorrow!)

  7. Present Tense The present tense shows an action or condition that is happening NOW.

  8. Present Tense Kuzco the llama walks into the jaguar den. He is in trouble.

  9. Past Tense The past tense shows an action or condition that has already happened.

  10. Past Tense Kuzco the llama wasmean to the cute little squirrel. He offendedthe little squirrel.

  11. To Form the Past Tense To form the past tense, most verbs add the suffix -ed.

  14. Future Tense The future tense shows an action or condition that will happen in the future.

  15. Future Tense The cute little squirrel will pop the balloon. The jaguars will wake and will attack Kuzco.

  17. Progressive Forms The progressive form of a verb shows an action or condition that is in progress.

  18. Progressive Forms Present progressive: The llama is smiling. Past Progressive:The llama was smiling. Future progressive: The llama will be smiling.

  19. Progressive Forms To make the progressive form of a verb, add a form of the verb to be.

  20. Present Progressive The boy is hugging a cute llama.

  21. Past Progressive The llama was trying a new look.

  22. Future Progressive The llama will be dancing at the party tonight.
